Local MP Kevin Foster was delighted to present cheques to three local charities last week as part of his 'Foster's Fund' pledge not to accept the MP's pay rise, but to donate the money to charity instead.
The 10th Torbay Sea Scouts, Children's Week Torbay and the Toddling Tots Stay and Play joined Kevin as his office in Torquay to receive their cheques after making successful applications to 'Foster's Fund'.
All 3 charities are based and do fantastic work in Kevin's constituency. At last year's General Election, Kevin was the only candidate for the Torbay constituency to make a clear pledge, not only to oppose the pay rise, but to give it to charity if it went ahead. MPs rightly do not get a say on their salary and the pay rise was imposed in 2015. Kevin is one of only a small handful of MPs nationally not to have taken the rise.
Kevin was delighted to have helped these charities, each of whom share his determination to make our local community an even better place to live and work. Further donations from 'Foster's Fund' will be made throughout the year. If you are a local charity and are interested in applying please contact Kevin's Chief of Staff via [email protected] or visit www.kevinjfoster.com/fosters-fund for more information.
