Local MP Kevin Foster attended a Friends of the Earth event at the House of Commons this week which focused on raising awareness about the issues affecting our country's bees.
The event pledged to support the preservation of a ban on bee-harming pesticides, also known as neonicotinoids.
Neonicotinoids have been restricted across Europe since 2013, as there is evidence that they have a negative impact on the bee population. Over two thirds of the food we eat comes from plants pollinated by bees: they are a vital part of the nature cycle and must be carefully cherished and protected.
Having attended the event, Kevin feels that any plans to reintroduce pesticides that are harmful to bees would be wrong, and that the ban on neonicotinoids should remain in place.
