With much valued tourists and visitors able to return safely to the Bay from Monday 17 May, our local hoteliers and tourism sector is preparing for a busy and hopefully sunny summer.
Many visitors arrive for their holidays and day trips to Torquay and Paignton by train, and Kevin Foster has written to the Chief Executives of both Great Western Rail and Cross Country Trains this week, asking them to set out their plans for frequent and direct train services to the Bay – both from London Paddington and Cornwall (GWR), and the Midlands and the North of England (CC).
Kevin has made it clear that it is vital that our Train Operating Companies make it as easy and convenient as possible for rail users with their summer timetabling, with trains arriving and departing and both early morning and late in the evening to enable visitors to maximise their time away from home.
Kevin will update his constituents on the latest train schedules once he has had replies.
