Torbay’s MP, Kevin Foster has today (Thursday 14th January 2021) welcomed the opening of a new Local Test Site at the Torbay Leisure Centre (Car Park) making it easier for Paignton residents to get the tests they need.
This site forms part of an expansion to open more ‘walk-through’ Local Test Sites across the UK, which are easily accessible by foot or by bicycle. These sites complement the regional drive-through testing network across the UK as well as home testing, both of which can be booked through the government’s online portal.
Across the UK, testing capacity has been expanded to more than 700,000 tests a day. Anyone experiencing a high temperature, a new, continuous cough, or a loss or change to sense of smell or taste – should book a test at www.nhs.uk/coronavirus, by calling 119, or using the NHS Covid-19 app.
Commenting Kevin Foster MP said: “The opening of this new site is welcome news and will make it easier for Paignton residents to easily get tested as part of our bay’s fight against Covid-19. The vaccination programme is providing real hope for the future, but for now we must focus on ensuring the advance of this virus is pushed back by getting tested when needed.”
