Government announces £1.57 billion of grants from Culture Recovery Fund Torbay Museums Trust set to receive £120,000 and Jazz Hands CIC £61,500.
Two organisations in Torbay have been awarded a total of £181,500 as part of the Government's £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund (CRF) to help face the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic and to ensure they have a sustainable future.
Torbay Museums Trust and Jazz Hands CIC are two of 1,385 cultural and creative organisations across the country receiving urgently needed support. £257 million of investment has been announced as part of the very first round of the Culture Recovery Fund grants programme being administered by Arts Council England. Further rounds of funding in the cultural and heritage sector are due to be announced over the coming weeks.
Torbay Museums Trust will receive £120,000 and Jazz Hands CIC, based at the Palace Theatre in Paignton will receive £61,500.
Welcoming the news, Torbay's MP Kevin Foster MP said:
"Torquay Museum and the Palace Theatre have been much loved parts of our cultural fabric in the bay since the Victorian Era. This funding will help ensure they are able to educate and inspire for generations to come."
