Four Local Charities have received £1,700 to support their work after the latest round of donations from Foster’s Fund.
Foster’s Fund is based on a pledge made by Torbay’s MP when he was first elected in 2015. He pledged to not only oppose the 10% pay rise proposed for MPs, but to reject it via donations to local charities if IPSA implemented it. A change in the law made after the expenses scandal in 2009 means MPs no longer vote on their own pay.
The four awards totalled £1,700 and will be used to fund a range of activities including drama sessions, community outreach work and providing new sea safety equipment. The awards were: £1,000 for 10th Torbay (Babbacombe) Sea Scout Group, £300 for Unleashed Theatre Company, £200 for The Willows Community Church and £200 for Smart Recovery.
Kevin said: “I am delighted to present the latest awards from my Foster’s Fund to four groups who work hard to make a difference in our bay by providing new opportunities or reaching out to the local community.”
