Victory was declared yesterday in the campaign to get Bus Services restored to communities which lost their vital link in April.
Torbay Council confirmed it will provide £95,000 of capital funding to the Torbay Community Development Trust to support the running of Community Bus Services. The funding will not only support the existing number 60 community service, but also create a new 65 and a dial-a-bus 67 service.
The news follows a campaign and petitions supported by hundreds of residents and local Councillors calling for the reinstatement of key links in Babbacombe and Hele and parts of Paignton which were served by the former Local Link Bus Operator until April 2017. Kevin presented one petition to the House of Commons after Council Officials initially refused to consider it.
This is great news and is thanks to the hundreds of residents who joined the campaign, with some giving up a lot of time to help run it. Once I have details of timetables and confirmed route I will include them in a future update.
I was invited on BBC Radio Devon’s Drive Time Show to discuss this news and you can hear my interview by clicking here. and fast forwarding to 19:30.
