Local MP Kevin Foster today highlighted the challenges and opportunities facing Torquay Town centre in Parliament.
Speaking in a debate in Westminster Hall on tacking aggressive anti- social behaviour, Kevin discussed the recent problems that spice have caused in the Town Centre, and the effects that they are having on local businesses.
Whilst praising the excellent work being done by local organisations in the bay such as Shekinah, and the proactive work now being undertaken by Torquay Police, Kevin highlighted that professional beggars still operate in the area, exploiting the goodwill of local people and not helping the genuine homeless who need assistance.
Kevin encouraged all parties including Torbay Council to consider ways to make the bay a welcoming place that has things for young people to do, and he criticised the recent decision of the Council to restrict the use of playing fields used by Paignton Rugby Club for their 8 and 9 year old players.
