Local MP Kevin Foster has today received a letter from the Rail Minister, Paul Maynard MP, providing an update on Cross Country Trains' proposed timetable changes and their effect on direct services to the Bay.
The Minister has confirmed that having listened to all of the consultation responses and taken note of Kevin's petition which contained over 1000 local signatures, it has been decided not to proceed with the cuts proposed by Cross Country.
This is good news for the Bay's economy, our tourism sector and our visitors.
The December 2017 timetable will shortly become publicly available and Cross Country will update all stakeholders who responded to the consultation and will inform them of the current position. Kevin will encourage the train operating company to publicise their plans at our local train stations in Paignton, Torquay and Torre, unlike the first time they announced their proposals.
Kevin Foster will keep a close eye on Cross Country Trains' proposals for the Spring and Summer timetables in 2018.
