Local MP Kevin Foster regularly receives feedback from the local community, including businesses, hoteliers and individual constituents, about policing in Torbay.
Although statistically Devon has a low crime rate and is seen as a safe place to live, there are issues – including within the Bay – which the police need to keep on top of and address.
Kevin takes every police related issue seriously and will always represent his constituents’ views to Devon and Cornwall Police. In recent weeks he has spoken in person to the Chief Constable of Devon and Cornwall Police about a number of issues. He also speaks regularly to the Devon Borough Commander and the Operational Head of Police here in Torbay.
Kevin is aware that his constituents want to see a visible and proactive police presence in Torbay, including regular patrols from warranted officers and PCSOs. The local community pays for its police service and Kevin’s mailbag tells him that this is what people want to see.
It is also important – particularly during the summer months when Torbay is packed with visitors and tourists – that our local area, including the High Streets and the seafront, not only look clean and welcoming, but also feel safe for constituents and visitors alike.
Kevin will maintain a regular dialogue with the local police force to ensure that they remain proactive in dealing with issues of concern including antisocial behaviour and begging.
