Local MP Kevin Foster and the Herald Express have had a fantastic response in collecting signatures for the petition to save the direct train routes run by CrossCountry Trains from the North of England to the Bay.
CrossCountry Trains are proposing to cut our direct service by 70% in 2017, and Kevin has been at the forefront of the campaign to stop these cuts from happening.
Over 1,000 local people and train users have now signed the petition, which Kevin will present to the Department for Transport in London next week.
Kevin's team is out and about in the constituency again today collecting signatures. Please sign it if you have not already done so.
This week Kevin has stepped up his campaign with face-to-face meetings at the House of Commons with Paul Maynard MP, Rail Minister, and the Rt Hon Chris Grayling MP, Secretary of State for Transport. Kevin has not pulled any punches in explaining to both Ministers why these direct trains, packed full of very welcome tourists and visitors, are vital to the Bay and our local economy.
We will update you again on this campaign before Christmas.
