Local MP Kevin Foster has today personally spoken to a senior Director at South West Water to express extreme frustration and concern about the ongoing problems with water supply in parts of his constituency, particularly in Barton.
Over the last two to three weeks, problems with contamination in a local reservoir have seen the water supply become increasingly sporadic. Today, at 7am, local constituents in up to five streets lost supply altogether.
Kevin has made clear to South West Water that in 2016 this situation is not acceptable and that the company must dramatically raise its game in terms of both restoring the supply, and providing a consistent and coherent message to local residents.
Other issues Kevin has personally highlighted with SWW's Director include schoolchildren being unable to have a wash, elderly and sick residents without even basic water supplies and asking what measures SWW are putting in place to compensate residents.
Kevin understands that situations such as a hole in a reservoir roof leading to contamination can happen, but in this instance South West Water could and should have done much better.
Kevin will update constituents again later once he receives a letter he has just been promised from SWW.
