Kevin Foster, Conservative Parliamentary Spokesman for Torbay, has urged local business to apply for Round 6 of the Regional Growth Fund, which has opened for bids this week, for a share of the £200 million available to help them grow and create jobs.
The £3.2 billion fund supports projects using private sector investment to create jobs and growth. Already £190m of funding has been allocated to 38 different bids across the South West region, attracting nearly three quarters of a billion pounds of private investment and supporting 36,000 jobs.
The most recent round of funding saw £800,000 granted to Gooch & Housego (Torquay) to enable further investment into the company’s Systems Technology Group (STG).
Kevin said: “This is a great opportunity for businesses across the bay to apply for funding to help them grow and create jobs as part of the long term plan for our economy.”
“The Fund is already supporting and creating jobs here in the bay after the last round of funding announced in April saw Gooch and Housego (Torquay) secure £800,000 of investment.”
“To create the well paid job opportunities of the future we need to expand the range of high tech and high value added industries here in the bay. This fund helps do just that and I hope more local businesses will take the chance to apply for funding.”
