RNLI 200th Anniversary Debate
As the RNLI marks its 200th Anniversary Kevin took the opportunity to pay tribute to the work of Torbay RNLI in a debate secured by Anthony Mangnall MP.
Since 1866, Torbay RNLI has helped save lives in and around our bay, with Keith Bower, a retired Deputy Coxswain, being one of 3 living holders of the RNLI’s highest award: The Gold Medal for Conspicuous Gallantry.
Alongside the volunteer crews and those working at the station, a network of local supporters raises funds to support the service, which since its foundation has operated based on philanthropy rather than Government support to ensure its independence.
The RNLI has been saving lives at sea for the last 200 years and is ready to continue doing so for the next 200.
