Earlier today, local MP Kevin Foster had hoped to attend the consultation meeting regarding the future of Paignton Hospital, however was turned away at the door due to overcrowding, as were many Torbay residents.
Those that were refused entry were asked to come back later in the day for a second meeting, with promises from South Devon and Torbay Clinical Commissioning Group that an extra event will take place in order to ensure that everyone can have their say.
Kevin said, 'Whilst they didn't get prepared for the numbers that would attend, they did get prepared to turn people away...it really is ridiculous.'
A second meeting is taking place now, with a third meeting tonight at 7pm at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Paignton. A meeting is also being held at Upton Vale Baptist Church in Torquay at 6.30pm on Thursday 6th October.
Given the understandable local interest in this issue, it is imperative that the South Devon and Torbay CCG secure more suitable venues for future consultations
