I'm sorry and saddened to hear that BHS has entered liquidation.
Obviously, my first thoughts are with the workers and families in the Bay that will be affected by this. It was hoped that the uncertainty they have faced over the past few weeks would be allayed by a buy-out package, however the administrators have ultimately judged the offers not to be acceptable.
Attention now should turn to the large anchor store on Union Street, and finding a suitable replacement business. Just hoping things will return to what they were like in the past is not an option, as no change means further decline, so a clear strategy for regenerating our town centre needs to be implemented as a matter of urgency.
