Local MP Kevin Foster took his fight to save the Cross Country train service to the Bay to the heart of Government today.
Kevin and his team – assisted by the Herald Express – have gained over 1,500 signatures from Torbay residents and commuters who object to Cross Country trains proposals, and today Kevin and Totnes MP Dr Sarah Wollaston presented the petition to Rail Minister Paul Maynard MP at the Department of Transport.
Commenting after presenting the petition, Kevin said:
“The Herald Express and my team has done a fantastic job, and to collect over 1,500 signatures on this petition in barely two weeks just shows the strength of feeling. I have left Cross Country Trains and Government Ministers in no doubt that cutting these train services – which we know are packed with tourists and visitors from the North and Midlands, would harm our local economy. The campaign continues!”
