Hollicombe Gas Works Development
Kevin supports affordable housing schemes being developed in Torbay. However, he has been receiving numerous emails and phone calls with concerns about the Hollicombe Gas Works Development and whether the planning conditions that relate to safety of the site will be met before work starts.
The original Planning Approval for the development of 185 residential apartments at the Hollicombe gas works site with a number of Conditionals attached before work could start was obtained on 11 OCT 2012.
Here is a TIMELINE of events and how Kevin has tried to help since his election this May:
DURING MAY 2015: Kevin was alerted by local resident's who had safety concerns about a lack of information from the developers about the final two Planning Conditions that had not been signed off by Torbay Council.
- Condition 22: A method statement relating to air, vapour, dust monitoring and control
- Condition 34: Details of the use of a remediation tenting system as a sceondary dust control measure
26 JUNE 2015: A representative of Kevin's office organised a meeting and met with local ward Cllrs, Executive Lead for Planning at Torbay Council and Executive Headteacher of Preston and Eden Park Primary School. This meeting was to understand how we could obtain the information from the developers about progress of how they were to achieve these two vital safety conditions.
3 JULY: Formal information request to Linden Homes for more information by the Office of Kevin Foster MP
6 JULY: Conditon 34 was discharged. This means approval was obtained from Torbay Council
9 JULY: Kevin Foster MP asked for a debate in the House of Commons relating to how developers communicate to the public when they build on contaminated sites
10 JULY: Kevin Foster MP meets with protestors and parents in Hollicombe Park
13 JULY: A representative of Kevin's Office participated in a public exhibition held at Preston Primary with Q & A's to the Contractors who are carrying out the decontamination process.
14 JULY: Condition 22 was discharged. This means approval was obtained from Torbay Council
27 JULY: Decontamination work starts on site at Hollicombe by the Contractors
