Three Local Charities have received £1,500 to support their work after the latest round of donations from Foster’s Fund, the scheme set up by Kevin Foster MP.
Foster’s Fund is based on a pledge made by Torbay’s MP when he was first elected in 2015. He pledged to not only oppose the 10% pay rise proposed for MPs, but to reject it via donations to local charities if IPSA implemented it despite his objections. Kevin renewed this pledge last year and has promised to continue Foster’s Fund until at least 2022. Since 2009 MPs have not voted on their own pay.
The latest round of awards saw Holy Angels Pre-School (£200), Riviera Life Church - Storehouse (£300) and the Friends of Stoodley Knowle (£1,000) receive support for projects including a new outdoor area, support for those in need and a new community café.
Kevin said: “These groups are looking to make a difference by delivering new services for local people and I am delighted to be able to support them in doing so.”
“If you know of a local charity that could benefit from support of up to £1,000 to deliver a project do encourage them to get in touch.”
