Last Friday, local MP Kevin Foster had hoped to see his Animal Fighting (Sentencing) Bill pass its Second Reading in the House of Commons, however it unfortunately did not get any time for Debate in the Chamber.
The Bill, which aims to increase the maximum sentence available for those who have been convicted of an animal fighting crime, will now likely not be read during this Parliament, however Kevin did have a highly productive conversation with Minister of State George Eustice MP afterwards about what more can be done to end this sickening 'sport' that sees animals tortured and killed for perverse enjoyment.
One highlight though was that Kevin got to meet Sir Ranaulph Fiennes, who visited Westminster to show his support for the Bill. The dog at the front is “Cupcake” who was rescued having been a “bait” animal that fighting dogs were encouraged to attack as part of their training.
