Kevin's team have been out in the Bay today, collecting signatures for the petition to save our CrossCountry rail services.
We have spoken to commuters getting on and getting off affected services at Torquay station, and have been met with an overwhelmingly negative response to CrossCountry's proposed cuts. Surely CrossCountry Trains are duty-bound to reflect on their customers' views?
We have also visited business premises and retail outlets in Torquay High Street and added to the fantastic work being done by the Herald Express. In less than 24 hours, we already have over 200 signatures.
The Herald Express has produced a coupon, which will be published in this week's paper, that residents can print, sign and send back to the Herald to be included in Kevin's petition to Parliament. Alternatively, you can sign the petition electronically at https://northcliffe.wufoo.com/forms/zvxxfcj0b0da88/
It is important to remember that not only Torquay is affected by these proposed rail cuts, and over the next couple of days Kevin and the team will also be out and about around Torre and Paignton train stations.
Kevin will be presenting the final petition in person to Transport Secretary Chris Grayling MP on Monday 19th December, and he will also be personally lobbying the Cabinet to express the massive local opposition to CrossCountry and their draconian proposals.
